Overview

The Junior Branch includes youth between the ages of 14 – 25,

  • Junior Branch is a structure, which involves a process of providing an opportunity for CISV Juniors to develop leadership skills, to learn to organize, coordinate, take decisions and exercise representative rights. Junior Branch is part of the CISV local I national structure. Through membership, activity participation and administrative responsibility in all levels of the organization its members are encouraged to form an integral part of the Affiliated Association/International Association as well as to be self-governing.
  • The mission of JB Egypt is to keep the CISV spirit alive throughout the year, spread CISV and its philosophy in Egypt, fundraise, and maintain active international communication. By providing the CISV and the Egyptian community with several different local and international activities every year, we will be able to satisfy the needs of society, fulfil our mission, and focus on maintaining education, fun, growth and reliability as the corner stones of our work.

The Junior Branch is elected every year in September/October of every year consisting of a President, Secretary, Treasurer, Senior National Junior Representative (S NJR) and Junior National Junior Representative (J NJR) and 3 Committees; Fun(d)raising Committee, Publicity and Publications Committee (PPC) and Events Committee.

  • President: Representative of the JB in the CISV board, runs the meetings, coordinates between the different elements of the JB. The person who is most responsible for the JB, and must ensure that all rules and regulations are adhered to, and that everything in the JB runs smoothly.
  • Secretary: Does all the filling, prepares the agenda for meetings, keeps minutes for meetings, maintains communication between board members, and collects monthly reports.
  • Treasurer: Keeps track of the budget, and makes sure that we are raising enough funs to finance the JB, and the only person authorized to release money to any of the committees.
  • Senior National Junior Representative (SNJR): Represents JB Egypt internationally, as well as maintaining active communication with international JBs, and provides a link with international CISV committees, such as the local work committee to provide any help needed.
  • Junior National Junior Representative (JNJR): Non-voting member of the JB board. Helps the SNJR with everything and will succeed the SNJR.

Fun(d)raising Committee:

Main Goals:

  • Raising money for CISV Egypt through having events and activities,
  • Raising FUN, which is planning fun activities that will keep our juniors’ CISV spirit alive all through the year.

Examples of Events:

We simply plan more large scale events like the CISV annual iftar, Christmas dinner, parties, mini camps… etc. Our main goal out of the event is to make money for CISV but there is always the fun factor.
Fundraising events are how we usually get old CISV’ers more involved as well as giving a chance to the current active CISV’ers to enjoy themselves and have a good time. We also like to plan a lot of family events to keep the parents involved in the organization as well.

Why does CISV Egypt need the money?

First of all, we need to send our NJRs (National junior representatives) and trustee to the IJBC (International Junior Branch Conference) and the AIM (Annual International Meeting).
We also need it to send people to regional meetings, which motivate the juniors in the middle of the year. CISV Egypt also needs the money to host international camps and trainings.

Events Committee

Its Main Goals are to organizing different kinds of local CISV events and activities in order to keep CISVers involved on a local level.  Events vary according to age groups as well as specific purposes they serve. The events commitee is new, it was added to be able to have more events throughout the year without aiming to raise money.

Examples of Events
They have been done in the past years are; The annual soldiers’ iftar,  a Karaoke night and a movie night for 11-year-old villagers.

Publicity and Publications Committee (PPC):

This committee aims to publicize about CISV along with the other committees such as fund raising committee, but the difference between PPC and fund raising committee is the purpose of the events. As our events are pure publicity for CISV, we are not aiming to get any profit out of these events.

More over, the PPC is in charge of the CISV items such as “rings, earrings, necklaces, T-shirts, mugs, etc”. Before you travel to any of CISV’s programs you buy some of these items in order to trade with the other countries in your camp if you want to. We also publicize about CISV through out the CISV news letter. This news letter includes articles written by CISVers to share their CISV experience with others, it also includes some pictures of our events and members. We are aiming to have two news letters instead of one.
